Planning for Climate Change in Overlooked Sectors

Senegal used the resources made available under NCAP to extend and deepen its experience with the NAPA process, and in so doing they moved NAPA implementation in some interesting and unique directions, in particular by addressing economic sectors (i.e. tourism and transport) that had not previously been part of NAPA preparation in other countries.

The methodology used in this case study consisted of conducting a participatory process in the tourism sector aimed at characterising climate change vulnerabilities, prior to developing and prioritising adaptation options. Similarly, in the transport sector, through a participatory process with key stakeholders, a comprehensive assessment of vulnerabilities was produced to inform the development of adaptation measures.
