Liese Coulter is a Research Fellow at the Sustainability Research Institute in the School of Earth and Environment at the University of Leeds and a member of the Priestley International Centre for Climate. Her research focuses on the Horizon 2020 funded RECEIPT project, developing climate risk storylines that reveal how Europe is shaped by global climate impacts across five key socioeconomic sectors. Ongoing reserach interests are how climate knowledge, narrative communication and future thinking shapes future settlements and society. During her 2018-19 Mitacs Science Policy Fellow with the Ministry of Agriculture in British Columbia, Liese developed a framework and user guide for Climate Change Adaptation Pathways,written to help communities and agricultural producers develop shared adaptation goals and objectives with a focus on sustainable local food. She was a contributing editor for Communicating Climate Change Information for Decision-Making, published by Springer. Liese’s perspective on adaptation to extreme weather events is shaped by volunteer experience with the Australian Red Cross, managing evacuation centres in Queensland and The Northern Territory in times of flood and fire.
