Jacob Olonde
Jacob is an environmentalist with interests in environmental, climate change, energy, forestry and water governance.
He worked at the Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation at the University of Nairobi as a researcher and a member of an expert team on Green Economy. He previously worked for the Council of Governors as a Technical Officer in charge of the Environment, Energy, Water, Forestry, Natural Resources, and ASALs.
He also worked with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Kenya Office as a project assistant (worked in the Payment for Ecosystem Services project in Aberdare Forest) and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources as an intern. He has consulted for various organizations and institutions in Kenya with assignments touching on forestry, water, climate change, energy, health, transport, waste, and infrastructure. Notable is the development of the National Forest Programme (NFP) where he served as a consultant responsible for stakeholder mobilization and rapporteur in regional meetings all over the country.
He has a master’s degree in Environmental Law from the University of Nairobi and an undergraduate degree in Environmental Planning and Management from Kenyatta University. He is a fellow of the Danida Fellowship Center (DFC), and serves as the Secretary General of the DANIDA Alumni Network- Kenya.
