The Greater Himalayan Region ©indiawaterportal.org
Project description
This project led by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) contributes to improved understanding of the consequences of climate change for the livelihoods of mountain people and downstream communities, particularly regarding access to water resources and vulnerability to water-induced hazards.
The project improve understanding of the resilience of the mountain communities through documenting existing coping strategies in relation to climate-induced water stress and risk management of water-induced hazards.
The documentation in combination with literature reviews will lay the basis for improved information mainly targeting policy and decision-makers.
SEI’s role in this project is to provide technical expertise in vulnerability, resilience and adaptation theory and methods for the country field teams during 2008 and 2009, and to support the joint development of future collaborative projects with ICIMOD, ISET and other regional partners.
