Arlene Hopkins

Planner, architect and educator focusing on community-based resilience, mitigation and adaptation. Incorporating the "focal action" systems approach of Elinor Ostrom and Donella Meadows, we work with community institutions of local acculturation such as libraries, schools, museums and civic agencies to implement programs. We develop the programs using "social ecological systems" and "citizen science" tools, and we incorporate evaluation into the program design. Using both formative and summative evaluation methods, we adaptively manage the programs as we learn.
